Rafters Terms of Use
Effective: September 29, 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and Zachary Chung ("I", "me"), the developer of Rafters. By using Rafters you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies. If the two conflict, these Terms control to the extent Apple allows.
1. The game
Rafters is a free basketball draft game. Every player in Rafters is invented. City names, seasons, and team win–loss records are used only as historical references. Rafters is an independent game and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any professional basketball league, team, players' association, or player. All trademarks belong to their owners.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- Solo play needs no account.
- To create an online account you must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age where you live). If you're under 18, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, and they accept these Terms for you.
- You sign in with Sign in with Apple. You're responsible for activity on your account. Tell me right away if you think someone else is using it.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
3. Community rules: zero tolerance
Your username, display name, and anything else you enter are visible to other players. You must not use Rafters, or any username or display name, to:
- post or display anything hateful, harassing, threatening, sexual, violent, or discriminatory, or any slur or profanity;
- impersonate anyone, including real athletes, Rafters staff, or Apple;
- bully, stalk, spam, or send unwanted friend requests or challenges;
- share anyone's personal information;
- cheat, exploit bugs, use bots or modified clients, reverse engineer the service, interfere with it, or access other players' data;
- break any law.
There's no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You can report or block any player from the Friends tab or a challenge board. I review reports within 24 hours. I may remove content, change a name, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that break these rules, with or without notice.
4. Your content
You keep whatever rights you have in names you create. You give me a worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit them as needed to run Rafters. I may remove any content at any time.
5. My content
Rafters' software, designs, invented players, card art, sounds, and text belong to me or my licensors. The typefaces and open source components are used under their licenses and credited in Settings › Acknowledgements. You may share screenshots and the share cards Rafters makes for personal, non-commercial use.
6. Leaderboards and challenges
Leaderboards, challenges, and Daily results are for fun only. There are no prizes, and nothing in Rafters has monetary value. Apple isn't a sponsor of, or involved in, any competition in Rafters.
7. Availability and changes
Online features rely on the internet and third-party services and may sometimes be unavailable. I may change, suspend, or end any part of Rafters, and reset leaderboards or other data that isn't your account.
8. Disclaimers
RAFTERS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS. Game simulations are entertainment, not predictions.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, I'M NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA OR PROFITS. MY TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO US$50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived by contract (including in the EU and UK).
10. Termination
You can stop using Rafters and delete your account at any time. I may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. Sections 4 to 9 and 11 survive termination.
11. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Los Angeles County, California, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
12. Apple
Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them. Apple isn't responsible for Rafters or for support, maintenance, warranty, or claims relating to it.
13. Changes and contact
I may update these Terms. I'll post the new date and, for material changes, tell you in the app. Contact: zacharytylerchung@gmail.com.
